London-based four-piece Le Bon Jams have returned with their new single, ‘Candy Eyes’. It takes no time at all for the wave of sonic nostalgia this track provides to sweep into motion. A warm, soft bass line wanders below warbling strings and a distant vocal sample, before the track shape-shifts into an up-tempo dance cut driven by 70s disco influences and four-to-the-floor drums. The band aren’t afraid to shake up the formula, with frequent tempo changes dictating the direction of the track as much as those memorable vocal hooks. At its core, the band is designed to blend a retro sound defined by analogue synths and smooth grooves with the energy and modernity of live instruments and performance.
